Was at clinic today and whilst the consultant was having a cup of tea we all had a bit of a chat. He told he only expected one thing from medical students. This was just to turn up - thankfully even I can manage that!
You know what really sucks? That fact that we have to live this way! And you guys know what I'm talking about. I mean in highschool, you pass by people, not one person but many. And they stare at you as if you have something coming out of your nose. They stop and ask "Are you ok?" This only pisses you off more and you try and explain " I have depression and anxiety disorders, it takes over my life." Slowly they say, "Oh depression thats no big deal just think positive." And your world is crushed at the fact that no one understands.
A medical student in the UK, who recently has joined the blogosphere.
I am a student currently studying somewhere in the South of UK, but it is important to note that nothing in this blog is real and probably just a figment of my imagination.
Not all of you can though.
ReplyDeleteSome think they can learn it all from books at the last minute but medicine is not like that.
Indeed, I remember hearing/reading this quote (or something along the lines of)
ReplyDelete"Seeing patients without reading a book is like setting sail without a map, whilst reading a book without seeing patients is not to set sail at all."
Books are there for you to read up on stuff you've seen during the day
